Patrick and Lina, the founders of Kubjertos, share more than a passion for Filipino cuisine. They share a vision—to build businesses that do more than generate profit. From the very beginning, Kubjertos was meant to be a bridge between cultures, introducing the richness of Filipino flavors to the Netherlands while empowering the communities they serve.

Their experiences in Winschoten taught them an invaluable lesson: food is more than just nourishment—it is a means to connect, to provide opportunities, and to give hope. They saw firsthand how a simple restaurant could become a safe space for job seekers, a place where customers on limited budgets could still enjoy a warm meal, and a symbol of resilience in a challenging economic climate.

Patrick and Lina have faced immense personal and professional hardships, including the loss of loved ones, rejections, and setbacks in their efforts to start and expand. Despite these challenges, they remain steadfast in their mission, fueled by the belief that true success lies in serving others.

One of the most profound lessons Patrick and Lina have learned comes from Lina’s father, Silvino. His life was a testament to the idea that at the end of the day, it all comes down to how we have lived our lives in service to others. His unwavering generosity, kindness, and dedication to helping those in need have shaped the values that guide Kubjertos today. His passing was a painful loss, but his spirit remains alive in the mission that Patrick and Lina have set out to accomplish.

To honor his memory and the values he instilled, Kubjertos will be naming the new restaurant in Groningen ‘Silvino’s.’ This is more than just a name—it is a tribute to the kind of life he led, one that was rooted in compassion, service, and the belief that success is measured by how much we give back to the world.

Silvino’s will stand as a beacon of that legacy, ensuring that every meal served and every life touched continues the mission of making a difference.
